I'm pulling monthly historical returns off Morningstar to build the database. They are formatted as, for example, 1.23 or -1.23. When I enter them, they are rounded to whole numbers. I set the risk-free and target return rates by dividing annual figures by 12. When I run it, it looks right but I'm disconcerted by the rounding. Am I entering the historical data correctly? Thanks in advance.
The Input data sheet formats the numbers for the first 100 rows with zero decimal places. If you look in the address bar, you will see the exact value to the number of decimal places that it was entered. This precise value is used for the optimization process and the results. It is simply a matter of refromatting the cells to your preference.
