ConfusedI have a table with values ascending from A1 to A8, then continues ascending into the next row from B1 to B8. A8 is lesser in value then B1. This continues with columns C,D ... for some more columns.

Now the complication is that I have a certain number which lies between two of the numbers. So I inserted columns between every column of the table, but do not know the function for the value to find its location within the table.

e.g. row 1: 2,4,6,8 10
row 2: 12,14,16,18,20
......
row 6: 52,54,56,58,60

I want to find the location of number 17 to paste it there in between 16 and 18. The table has 5 columns and 5 blank columns between them.

Kindly help, if there is a solution to this type of problems.

You can use the combination of a reference function (such as MATCH) along with the ADDRESS function to locate a cell based on its value. From there you can populate the blank cell with the desired value.  For an example of this, see this post.
