The Web Publishing Component for Excel (Excel Web-stream) is a web server CGI script that converts Excel files into HTML format, so that they can be integrated into a web site. The benefit is that HTML documents load much faster for the end user and can be read by any web browser without requiring Excel to be installed. The Web Publishing Component for Excel opens and reads Excel files on the server and returns the HTML converted content to the browser on the fly. The CGI script does not use any external libraries (e.g. MS Excel/Office, BDE, ODBC or ADO) and can be executed on any Windows based computer without any additional setup installation requirements. The conversion is very fast and uses minimal server resources. The Web Publishing Component for Excel supports all Excel file formats and has automatic Unicode conversion.
